Young Apprentice Program

A unique opportunity for sixteen High School students to participate in the chorus of a collegiate opera production. Over a twelve-week period in March, April, and May, students will attend evening musical and staging rehearsals, then present seven fully staged and costumed performances in the Stone Center on the campus of JSU and the Pell City Center in Pell City.

Eligibility: High School Students in Grades 10-12
Cost: $100.00 participation fee (non-refundable) Payable upon admission to the program
Deadline: Complete application materials must be postmarked no later than January 28, 2008

* Collegiate Credit is also available through the Dual Enrollment program for an additional fee. Students may receive credit for Lyric Theatre Workshop (MU252) for participation in this ensemble. Contact Joe Delap, for more information (256) 782-8186.

AUDITION PROCEDURES
» Preliminary Round:

Submit the following:

  1. A cassette tape or CD recording of a classical selection with piano accompaniment.
  2. A sealed letter of recommendation from your choir director, band director, or theatre instructor.
  3. A complete application form. Applications should be submitted to:

» Final Round:
Applicants will be notified of advancement to the final round of auditions by February 4, 2008.
