Mr. Loughlin is a candidate for the PhD in Music Theory at The University of Texas at Austin. He serves currently as Visiting Instructor of Music Theory for the 2007-08 academic year at Jacksonville State University, in Jacksonville, Alabama. His teaching duties include undergraduate theory and ear-training.

Previously, he taught full-time in the College of Fine Arts at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, in Belton, Texas. As the chair of music theory studies, he was tasked to update the department’s theory curriculum to standards required by the National Association of Schools of Music. His curriculum revisions later aided the Department in its successful quest for full re-accreditation with NASM. He has taught all levels of undergraduate harmony, ear-training, sight-singing, as well as 18th Century counterpoint, applied piano, and class piano. While at UMHB, Mr. Loughlin was recognized as Outstanding Professor of Music, an annual award based upon peer review and administrative evaluation.

Upon completing the doctoral residency at UT Austin, Mr. Loughlin was awarded membership into Phi Kappa Phi academic fraternity for consistently superior GPA at the doctoral level. Mr. Loughlin has been elected twice to Who’s Who of American College Professors.

Mr. Loughlin is rather fortunately married to Holly, a proud stay-at-home-Mom to Murren, our daughter of 5 yrs. Mr. Loughlin loves dogs, loves Java Jolt Coffee Shop, and can’t wait to finally be finished with school (he's been in school since Kindergarten!). It's time.
